My husband had business in Southern California, so we decided to make a little mini trip out of it.
We stayed the first day in the quaint coastal town of Del Mar. And while he was hard at work I spent some time at the Plaza on the beach.
So many cute little shops to explore, but first...
I had to find the nearest Starbucks and start there.
I love the architecture of a beach cottage
Even though it was overcast and cool (reminded me a lot of Monterey, Ca where I grew up) I spent awhile just watching waves and the occasional train pass bye. It was so calming and relaxing. I needed to just sit alone me and the Lord and soak in the beauty of God's creation.
It was so wonderful not to be on any time frame.
I had hours to explore and reflect, so utterly refreshing.
The next day we decided to drive the coastal route from Del mar down to Coronado
We stopped several places along the way, but we spent some time at Cabrillo National Monument overlooking all of San Diego.
Even though it was hazy and overcast, it didn't dampen our spirits one bit
This cemetery overlooking water on both sides reminded me so much of being at Arlington Cemetery, so serene and peaceful in a haunting way
Driving the bridge to Coronado
Finally Sunshine!
We spent time on the Pier eating greasy food and delicious treats from the local vendors, a huge bag of kettle corn was my favorite treat.
We now headed north again, because no trip to So Cal is complete with at least one of its many amusement parks. We have been to all of them so many times, but it had been many years since we had ridden the coasters at Magic Mountain.
My husband and I both LOVE roller coasters and this park has them ALL!
We payed extra for the fast pass and we are so glad we did, we were able to ride all of the coasters that were open, some several times on a Saturday no less. Highly recommend the pass if you go.
Our favorite coaster was this one. you are laying on your stomach, and when you ride in the front you literally feel like you are flying.
This one was so...fast we felt G-force
Like i said, we hadn't been in years and I couldn't believe how many more amazing coasters there were, if you love fast and furious coaster thrills, you will get them there and you won't be disappointed, I know we weren't
When we were leaving the park 3 Chinook helicopters were flying overhead Awesome!
Our last night we spent down by the water in Venice
The next morning we got up extra early on our way to the airport so we wouldn't miss having a donut at the all famous Randy's donuts. I had a Cinnamon roll and my husband had a maple bar. Mmm...I can still taste it.
