Getting Organized Part 2

Yesterday was certainly a productive day, or at least it seemed that way to me.  I continued on with organizing in my kitchen.  The problem is, that once you start organizing you can't just stop there, you have to clean, which takes forever...

As you can see I love baskets and bins to keep things a little more organized

More coffee supplies... and the ugly coffee maker that only comes out when my Keurig goes on the fritz or I have a full pot to brew, I keep saying I'm going to buy a nicer looking one, but I just can't bring myself to get rid of one that was free to me and only gets used every once in a while.  Do you have appliances like that?  I bet you do.

I know it doesn't look like I did much but I did some purging, now all I need to do is make it look pretty somehow, any creative ideas?

I love it when everything fits perfectly in one drawer, it doesn't happen often

When we remodeled the kitchen I asked to have these pull-out drawers put in for my pots and pans, I sure wish I would have put more of them in, I absolutely love them

I've also been wanting some new pots and pans that look pretty and are actually matching, unlike mine.  But for the little amount of cooking I do, it isn't really that necessary (as my husband would say) and he would be right.  He would however buy them for me himself if he thought it would motivate me to cook more.

I should get rid of a few more things out of this drawer, baby steps...

Some of these items get used about 2 times a year, any less than that and it had to go and I'm sure your laughing at me if you actually enjoy spending time in the kitchen cooking.  I realized a long time ago that it wasn't so much the cooking I didn't like, it was the clean up.  Since it is just my husband and I in the house it has to be a pretty easy cleanup for me to take it on.  Otherwise by the time I am done cleaning up my food is cold and my husband has already eaten, I like to clean as I go...

 Extra coffee supplies (imagine that)

Tea to offer my guests when they come, because I'm not much for tea myself.

Ok, I definitely need some new silverware. We have had this since we got married.

I also love these pull-out doors, wish I had at least one more.

I have got to go through our key situation again as you can see, but at least they are all in one place

I can't believe I have room in this drawer now!  Won't take me long to fill it up

Wow, this part took forever.  But again I love the bins, they make it look so much nicer than it really is.  Oh and don't you love the stack of cookbooks that I have.  You know those don't get used much, when they are on a bottom shelf in a cupboard.

Believe it or not there is still more to do in the kitchen, but all for now.
I love that you are joining me on this journey.  My husband thinks it is embarrassing that I am showing our cupboards and drawers to the world, but If it motivates or speaks to just one other person,(I love your comments by the way) than I am excited. Not to mention that it keeps me motivated and accountable, which is the most important part.

Getting Organized Part 1

At the beginning of the year I wrote a blog entitled  "A place for everything and everything in its Place"  well, because I have been so sick, I hadn't accomplished much.  But finally I can show you some progress over the last week.  It doesn't look like the pictures in the magazines but really, when does it ever!

My husband and I live in a house built in 1947.  We have since remodeled it inside and out, but the rooms are small and so is the amount of storage space, this is my laundry closet (not room) but closet.  We do the best with what we have.

The green containers are not the most flattering, but they are what I had so they work just fine.
This is the famous junk drawer in our house, always needing upkeep

I have a little coffee center because I absolutely LOVE!! coffee,  and this is my go to drawer.
One more drawer with whatnots all in there place
This drawer still needs some purging, but we are getting there

Books are being reorganized, OH SO MANY books!!, but I just cannot bring myself to pair down too much in this area.  This is just a tiny sampling of what I have.

I know these are not the most flattering pics to put on my blog, but what constitutes real life is not always pretty.  It is so easy to get discouraged by the way the movies look, the magazines read, the books tell us.  But wait, just doing the best with what you have, is the only thing that matters, especially in the Lord's eyes.  So remember that whatever you accomplish today, no matter how small or great, it is exactly what was meant to be for you.

Random Inspirations

Just like everything lately, random are my thoughts and inspirations.  But I thought I would share some of it with you.

I would love to find this type of clock for my bedroom

I would love to have this door between the living room and my office

A cozy chair for the corner of the room

This chandelier Hanging over my table

These wall hangings for accent pieces

and this armoire for my clothes

My style is ever changing, and growing its limits.  Little by little it evolves into something altogether new.  Never all at once, but gradually and patiently it transforms.

Restoration Hardware Inspiration

When I saw the pictures of the new decor at Restoration Hardware I was in love.  Clean, light industrial chic, with just a touch of old Hollywood glamour.

Just a little inspiration for your day:
Proverbs 14:1 "A wise woman builds her house; a foolish woman tears hers down with her own hands"
